Great aid for astrophotography; the quality is worth the price
This is a very high-quality unit. I use it with a Canon EOS 60D for telescopic astrophotography to help get tack-sharp focus with the Live View screen. It is quite helpful for night imaging the moon and planets, but for me essential for daytime shooting of sunspots. It gives me a glare-free, sharply-focused view of the LCD. The coated multielement lenses focus cleanly on the LCD screen without color fringing or noticeable distortion as with cheaper models. Construction is stiff thick plastic with a rubber coating for protection and a secure grip. The adjustable lens lets different users achieve sharp focus. The stock version is used like a loupe, held in the hand rather than attached to the camera. It comes with a neck strap, lending a jaunty Hollywood cinematographer-look if you wear it.Two optional accessories are available but I think they both are unnecessary. One is a 3X replacement lens that magnifies the screen. With the stock unit I can already see the LCD pixels; with maginification you just get bigger pixels. If you have a camera like the 60D you can magnify the image sent to the screen to help fine-tune focus, which is much more useful than merely over-magnifying the LCD.The other option is a set of O-ring like rubber bands for a soft attachment to the camera. These rings wrap around the camera itself, so you can only use it with the screen folded against the body rather swiveled out to the side. Used this way the bands interfere with the neck strap of the camera. A superior solution is to attach the loupe to the view-screen itself with a couple of ordinary rubber bands (hint: I use two large and one small band, tied together, but there are other ways). Not only is it much cheaper, but it's also more functional than the expensive optional accessory.

Expensive, but does the job well
I had seen these in the photography magazines, and they looked like a good idea, so I finally ordered a Hoodman H-LPP3 HoodLoupe 3.0 Professional 3-Inch Screen Loupe about a week ago. The price felt high, and they never really go on sale too much (I've been watching them for a few months). The Loupe is well made, has a good quality feel to it, it is not too heavy, and the rubber is soft enough that I'm not worried about it scratching my cameras' glass LCD panels. The case that comes with it is constructed nicely, though the Loupe and the neck strap fit into it a bit tightly (a slightly larger case would be an improvment, but then it would take up more in your camera bag). The case also has a belt clip on it.I wear glasses and when I really want to see if the shot worked out well in the field, especially with any sun light, it's always been a challenge for me. This Loupe does the trick. I can adjust it perfectly for my "good eye" and I can see the screen so well that I can even see the pixels on my Canon 30D and my Canon 40's screens.Had the price been less, I would have given this 5 stars.

although having some way to secure the unit would be better. I've seen numerous ideas presented on YouTube
Yes, it is pricey. Having a new Nikon 1AW1 with no eye viewer, this Hoodman unit gives me the comfort and ability to view in bright sun and adjust focus when using my other "D" and "S" lenses. The hard rubber make-up of the viewer allows me to maintain contact with the camera with minimum eye pressure applied, although having some way to secure the unit would be better. I've seen numerous ideas presented on YouTube, none of which I have tried yet. Using the viewer for video works wonderfully, and I have had nothing but success so far. I give this product 5 stars because, although it is expensive, it is built solidly and does exactly what I need it to do. The added benefit for me is I now use it with my other cameras to check sharpness on their screens. A win all around for me.

Works as advertised but ended up staying in my bag more than being used
So let me start by saying I rate items not just based on how well it works, its build quality, etc. but also according to how useful the item is, particularly when it comes to something like this which falls into the "gadget" category. Meaning it is not an essential piece of equipment but is designed to make life easier in a specific circumstance. First, it does what it is advertised to do in that it helps you see your LCD screen clearly in bright sunlight so you can see your image and your historgram before determning whether or not you are happy enough with your exposure and composition to move on. It is well made. The vendor is a great vendor. I think the price is reasonable for what it is and what it does. the real problem is that it turned out to be a bit more of a hassle to use than the value it generated, so more often than not it ended up staying in my bag rather than coming out and I used my hat more often to shield my LCD so I could read it. It is a little bulkier than you might visualize in your mind and it actually took up some pretty valuable real estate in my camera backpack that could have been used for something else. I guess you could just wear it around your neck with the provided lanyard, which I tried, but I found its relative bulk to be a nuisance (not to mention my wife told me it made me look like a dork) so I quickly dismissed that notion. There were times, however, when I did go to it because my cap wouldn't block the light enough and I really wanted to be precise on my exposure, and when I used it then it did the job it was designed to do and did it well. So three stars because it is far from being an essential piece of equipment, takes up valuable bag real estate, but does its job when called upon.

Works great
I use this with my D7000 and it works great. Full LCD screen coverage. This is a little pricey but when you are outside in the sun, the convenience pays for itself!

Hoodman H-LPP3 Professional 3" LCD Screen Loupe
si va bene bene solo che il Hoodman HSLRM Cinema Strap, non per la canon550d, e non è buono .

Just what I needed
I will not bore you with the details regarding what this product does as others have covered this topic quite accurately. All I will say is that it is exactly what i needed and it very much lives to expectations. It looks and feels like a quality product. Yes, it is made of rubber/plastic yet it feels good in your hands. Yes, the image is slightly distorted in the corners but this product is not meant to replace a computer screen but simply to allow you to check a picture on the LCD screen of your camera in daylight. This is does very well. I will be taking it away everywhere I go. Guaranteed. It could have been cheaper and the cost seems a bit too high and this means that they will sell less of them (it took me two years to convince myself that it was worth the purchase. And I am glad I did it, yet regret it is not better priced. The eye cup that you can buy separately (and expensively) is definitely a waste of money. It is not needed at all and if you put it on, the hoodloupe will not fit in the pouch that comes with it. Save yourself the extra expense and buy the hoodloupe only.

Reat loop by Hoodman
I recommend the use of the loop to all photograhers, particularty those who have an impaired vision like I have. I can read the information on the LCD of my camara,in broad day light which I could not do without the loop.
