Legacy

Note: The Legacy, is known in Denmark as Arvingerne, meaning "The Heirs"...The Legacy/Arvingerne is beautifully filmed and impeccably directed series with performances that have captured top Danish TV honors for drama and also acting awards for the actors who play conflicted egotistical siblings Gro and Frederic. That said, it's the refreshingly natural actress who plays the lovely cast-off daughter Signe who will steal your heart. I know just enough Danish to have watched on Danish TV, but it seems like there may be some extra scenes on the dvds, which was fantastic. (Maybe its a directors cut?) Anyway, if your native language is English, you will never EVER regret buying this perfectly subtitled 4 DVD set. It is a flawless production!

Absolutely as well done as well done can be. Everything about this production is superb, including the slomo exploding vase of flowers that introduces each episode. Acting and cinematography create a fictional world that reflects the [heightened] actualities of everyday reality at a level that competes with what it previously seemed that only Shakespeare could do. But then, this is a Danish production from top to bottom, and perhaps Hamlet himself lurks in that Elsinore where only the greatest fictions occur. If you want to watch top quality in every aspect, watch this. (Spoiler: Unlike in many BBC productions, the snow in some scenes here is compellingly actual.)

The acting is excellent, story completely engaging. The characters are complex and surprising. You can't predict where things are going. Just love it!!Disappointed that the other seasons are not available unless you have a dvd player that can play european dvd's. If there is any way for amazon to make available the other seasons, it would be much appreciated!!!

Not as good as other Danish series IMO, but still a very good show. Wish other seasons were available for purchase in the US....

Loved this series but was somewhat amazed that Season 2 is not available in Zone 1 for the U.S. Just hope it will be available in time.

Excellent series. I've watched it twice already and will watch it several times over!

Such a fantastic series. Almost as good as Borgen or The Bridge. Good bless the Danish film industry.

Too drawn out.

Great script and acting. English subtitles are good and not a problem. Order came in a timely manner and in good condition.

Pour moi c'est une des meilleurs séries de l'année très bien jouée et réalisée avec des personnages bien campés. On suit cette aventure familiale avec passion car les rebondissements sont nombreux et on ne sait jamais ce qui va se passer. C'est parfois loufoque et parfois émouvant mais toujours juste et intéressant.Par contre je conteste le qualificatif de soap opéra attribué par un commentateur car c'est vraiment dévaloriser cette série en la comparant à ce genre de saga. Franchement, ça n'a rien à voir. Les danois savent en général mettre en scène des personnages réels et vivants avec des dialogues percutants qui ne sont pas une bouillie de clichés hollywoodiens.

Another Nordic noir hit.Great acting, great story...Highly recommend.

Don’t expect a Nordic noir like The Killing/ The Bridge and so on: this is a story about an unexpected inheritance and family secrets and lies! The first episode is quite slow and will lead you to believe that the whole plot is slow-paced too, but keep watching because, even so it’s all about siblings fighting for a legendary manor, the show is enjoyable and quite gripping.It all starts with the daily routine of the eccentric matron of the Grønnegaard family, Veronika, who is an internationally renowned artist. She has four adult children (from different partners) who have been affected in different ways by this strong and unconventional mother. When Veronika suddenly dies and her family gathers for the inheritance – each individual with a specific agenda, what was meant to be a smooth and fair division of the estate, becomes a more complicated process…Again, this series lacks of the sophistication of other famous Nordic products, both in terms of script and acting (and you’ll sometimes struggle with subtitles due to the speediness of conversations), but it remains a good quality show that will pleasantly entertain you. Personally, I plan to follow season two & three.

Comment les mensonges, la mauvaise foi, les secrets peuvent gâcher une famille autour d'un héritage qu'ils pourraient se partager. Les caractères sont bien campés. Les ambitions de certains, le culte d'une fidélité à la mémoire d'un père, la reconnaissance de faire partie d'une famille font un amalgame intéressants à suivre. Tous les coups semblent presque permis quitte à tout casser de multiples fois et rendre à tour de rôle certains malheureux et les pousser peut-être à passer à d'autres actes.Je n'ai pas fini la première saison mais cela me passionne.
