A quality product for anyone who wishes to dabble with water colours
This was a gift for our granddaughter who lives to paint. The sheets are excellent quality, not too large. Excellent seller, can recommend

so so nice
the paper is great quality and holds paint beautifully. i really enjoyed painting on this.only putting 4 stars because itd have been good to have an indicator for where to separate the paper. i may be stupid but i didnt notice the area without any glue and tried to separate the top layer from a corner which damaged some of my paper. probably my fault but an indicator couldnt hurt 😅(fyi, theres a small section in the middle at the back where you can separate the paper easily)

My favourite paper
I initially didn't like it. It is a bit difficult to remove the paper, but with a sharp craft knife is really good. Now the paper quality!! I love it. It is really great for washes, blending, and it makes interesting effects. I prefer this over arches!!! I wish they could do bigger sizes though. I definetely recommend this. I give 5 because of the paper despite of the difficulty of removing pages!

Very nice paper for certain painting styles
The paper you use is likely the most important factor when it comes to watercolour painting so I'm always on the look out for different papers to try out. This one has a lovely surface texture which isn't quite standard cold press - the dimples are much denser than a typical cold press paper but not as deep as a rough paper - and is quite similar to Saunders Waterford rough (but feels softer). Paint soaks into this paper rather than just sitting on top so it's near impossible to lift or soften paint once it's been laid down, even when it's still wet! This will be detrimental to painters who use these popular watercolour techniques, but it works really well for Chinese painting that needs the absorbency, and even though the paint soaks into the paper the colours remain very vibrant. Wet-in-wet works wonderfully and the paper stays wet for quite a while to allow you time to charge in new colours. The surface lends itself to some very nice dry-brush effects too. The sheets seem easy to remove and should you wish to paint off the block, the back side of the paper has a softer surface than the front but still accepts paint without dulling the pigments.I bought this during a promotion where it was much cheaper than other brands but based on the prices of other Paul Rubens watercolour blocks at full price, it is still cheaper than its competitors if you consider it's larger than the standard 10x14inch (which allows for trimming down to a standard frame size). I would consider purchasing this again when I run out.

Still Buckles Despite Being Glued
First time using this paper. I used a heavy wash and, despite being glued on 4 sides, the paper buckled, particularly at the knife gap for separating the sheets, leaving the piece of paper underneath exposed to contamination. Miraculously, I managed to keep it clean, else I’d have knocked another star off. It dried flat though and I found it easy enough to separate the top sheet off without incurring any damage as had been reported by some others. I also used a little coloured pencil on top of the watercolour, which took well. I’d buy the pad again if it was on offer, I just won’t be using heavy washes on it. If you’re happy with this restriction, I’d recommend it. I’m not a fan of masking fluid so I can’t comment on how easy it is to remove from this particular paper.

Disappointed hence no rating
This block of paper was IMPOSSIBLE to get the individual sheets apart - I ended up having to use a craft blade and completly lost the front page as it was stuck to the picture cover - further sheets would not come apart easily and ended up with ragged/torn edges. NOT impressed at all

Good Paper
I've bought Paul Reubens watercolour paper before, and been quite happy with it. My only complaint is that sometimes if I paint over an area a few times, the paper surface seems to come up a little. But if I'm doing simple washes, it's really good. But all in all, I'm happy with it.

Does the job kind of..
Handles washes fairly well although I have got some cockling and buckling for heavy washes. Seems to work better for more detailed pieces ie flowers and wildlife etc so will probably just use for that. The reason I gave 3 stars is that I don't like the way the block is gummed with a black glue edge I find that I have to crop the edges off as it looks terrible. A clear glue on the block would be better. And it's not cheap so probably won't be buying it again.
