This is the best pill cutter I have ever used. I had to cut a pill into 4 equal pieces. This cutter did that with barely any shredding or dust and was super easy to do. All you do is line it up in the groove and once you like where it's positioned .you close it and it cuts it....this cutter may be expensive but it's worth every single penny in my book and I'm happy I went ahead and took the chance and spent the money on it. It's got some weight to it..it's a high quality product.

My pill are expensive (and important), so I wanted the best pill splitter I could find. I think reviewing these two together is wothwhile.Both styles work a bit better than the supermarket/pharmacy, typical pill splitter I used previously. In particular they both make less crumbs.I am splitting a smallish, flat ovoid pill that just fits in the Equadose Pill Cutter V2 stablilzing gripper at its tightest setting. I am pretty sure that different types of pills have varying densities and hardness, so crumb production can vary accordingly.Both of the Equadose pill splitter models work very well.My experience is that the Equadose Pill Splitter (the hinging model) hardly makes any crumbs. The V2 model did better with crumbs than my old pill cutter, but not as good as the hinging model.Regarding splitting my smallish, ovoid pills exactly in half, it is difficult to get an exact split with any pill splitter. Sometimes the alignment in the splitter is not as perfect as thought, and sometimes the pills simply shear imperfectly. It appears that all pill splitters do not "cut" the pills, but rather sort of crack them.Having said that, I prefer both Equadose splitter models to my previous splitter for accurate splitting. Both require fiddling (and good lighting) to optimize the alignment (as did my previous splitter). I think it is easier to get optimal split proportions with the Equadose Pill Splitter than with the V2 because with the former you can see exactly where the pincers are touching the pill. Still, it is a bit of a learning process.As mentioned by others, when splitting pills that have a fat side and a thinner side, in the Equadose Pill Splitter it is best to stand the pill on its thin side in the bite of the pincers so that the pincers are already as close together as possible.I am very satisfied with both Equadose models and am keeping them both. They are both well thought out products of good quality.

I looked and looked at all the pill splitters available on Amazon. Sure I wanted this one because as a techie I tend toward buying the higher end products knowing you rarely get burned for spending extra.The only question I ask myself is - is this an item I want to spend extra on. Cat litter, naw the cheap stuff will do, computer parts, nothing but the best.Personal health items - nothing but the best. I wavererd for hours if not days then closed my eyes and clicked buy it !I waited until honestly I forgot about it as my work life is CRAZY. I pulled the order up and it was 3 weeks old. It was shipped USPS ( heart sank ) and so I copied the tracking number and put it into the USPS tracking system. Yup 2 entries.1) wicked up a package2) it's on a shelf in no-where America and-you-aint-never-gonna-get-it *** BECAUSE *** we're the United States Post Office and our sole mission is for all you US Taxpayers to fund our pension. To heck with your mail. ( Sound familiar - same way unions AFLCIO busted Detroit because in the end all profit from car sales went to pension funds and health care - so it's simply - the car companies said we'll pick up our marbles and leave - and they did. )3) PS -> not sour grapes I've had multiple times where USPS updates their tracking late. FedEx and UPS - heck these guys phone ahead and bring coffee & donuts - and a SMILE - when they deliver their packages on time.--So I used the Amazon system to contact the super nice seller who said gosh this is a mess, and they should ship a replacement immediately I told them I would contact them when I received the package so they would know all is well.--Here is the email I just send the fine folks who produce Equadose:I'll get another one out UPS today.--This is ******** and I wanted to ley you know I received my Equadose pill splitter. Vets split pills all the time and their staff most likely is like the inventor of this product and has tried every crummy splitter on the market.I couldn't contain myself as I order another one to give her as a gift. As an owner of 6 dogs and 2 cats all at once, you can imagine how many trips I made up there and the rapport we have.I can't wait to get my 2nd one to give her as a gift.Thank you to the inventor of this device as you're going to allow me to share my joy with another person who truly has an absolute need for a product like this.*******************************************************************************************************************************************************As a side comment and pile on if you want to, but look at any item on Amazon that's split 50/50% between 5 star and 1 star rating and it's a no-brainer.The people who rate it 5 stars had an absolute need for the product, and yes it was probably over priced for the market, but they don't care because if it works they can make the value justification in their head all day long and feel great about rating the product 5 stars.If you're uncertain, or thrifty, or sitting on the fence, or really don't need overkill, or didn't win the lotto, or don't have a rich Uncle Henry, or don't have a trust fund, or don't appreciate beauty & craftsmanship, or don't read in between the lines of 5 star reviews, please ask any questions as I'm sure the 4 and 5 star reviewers will be happy to give you all the information you need to make an informed decision.*******************************************************************************************************************************************************Updated: 08-27-2015Gave my vet the 2 splitters I had, and purchased my 3rd one today. My vet had no idea what it was. I told her it was the atomic, bionic pill splitter. She showed me the little plastic one they currently use now -- eh, Mercedes or Model-T the choice is your's.Anyway, terrific product from an even better company !

This product does what it claims to do. I am able to quarter pills, although not as precisely as the listing implies. It takes a fair amount of effort to line up the pull correctly and hold it in place before splitting. However, I haven't used another splitter that can actually provide the quartering of a small pill. It's also should not be priced where it is, but I bought it anyway, so maybe it is priced where it should be!
