Ofra Haza

The incomparable Ofra Haza is poorly represented in this, the last of her albums to appear, but I still give it five stars on the principle "any Ofra is better than none." This is the Ofra who became known in the West by the cringe worthy title "the Madonna of the East" and it is a tribute to her versatility that she managed to breath her own inimitable life into scores and lyrics which were frequently poorly suited to her. Sometimes her joyful, charitable voice breaks out into its own in numbers like James Taylors "You've got a friend"...but too often she is overpowered by orchestral backgrounds which turn her vocalizations into torch-songs which become dirge-like in their intensity. None the less, this ominous quality this is important documentation for fans seeking retrospective insight into Ofra Haza at the end of her life and career.

Beautiful middle east music

Always my go-to vocalist, Ofra's voice captured my attention as a child watching Dreamwork's, "The Prince of Egypt".Her last finished album before her passing, she is again able to fuse the sounds and beats of her background of Traditional Yemenite-Israeli, Pop and songs that will surely become favorites such as her cover of James Taylor's "You've Got A Friend" or her hit Im Nin'Alu.Cd arrived quickly in pristine condition and is definitely a must have!

Found her by accident looking at Sarah Brightman videos on YouTube. So sad she died so many years ago. Love her music and voice.

I was surfing YouTube and came across a video of Ofra Haza and I fell in love with her amazing voice. I looked her up on Wikopedia to obtain more info on her and was saddened to learn that she had passed away. I was then determined to purchase her wonderful recordings and continue to listen to her amazing voice. I love Ofra Haza!!!
