My Brompton Folding Bicycles Fit!!!
IMPORTANT NOTE: For the Electric Brompton, you cannot ship the battery with the bike. It must be shipped by ground, and be boxed by a certified shipper who will pack and specially mark the box with HAZMAT tags. YOU CANNOT SHIP THE BATTERY WITH THE BIKE! Don’t do it! It can result in jail time. Now back to the Pelican box review.I am the proud owner of two Brompton bicycles. I bought a traditional six speed, orange and black model with the high handle bars and rear rack.I later purchased the electric model as a six-speed with high handlebars. I also added a rear rack and added a kit that lets it roll when folded up. So both of these bikes are the largest configuration. Both of these bikes fit nicely into their own Pelican box. To differentiate them, I purchased, here on Amazon, a separate kit that charges the standard black latches to blue ones. If I can find orange colored latches, I will buy them and update the other box.So my wife and I live in Virginia. We went to visit our kids and family, out in California. We successfully shipped the bikes back and forth, using FEDEX Ground. Not cheap, but the bikes arrived without any issue whatsoever. We had them held at a local FEDEX store, for us to pickup after we provided proper identification… very nice! These boxes are absolutely amazing! Even the boxes themselves look great after shipping the bikes back and forth. I can’t say the same for another brand of box, that was specifically made for the Brompton. It got smashed up in its initial shipping—by air. In that instance the case was cracked and the hinge, damaged. Unusable. These Pelican cases look tough and they are! You might not get away with parking an M-1 tank or MRAP on top of them, but they look like they can take some serious abuse and come out just fine.I love the rugged, locking, extending handle and wheels. It makes them so much easier to move the cars around.Be aware that these are probably not shippable on an airplane. They are definitely oversized and a little overweight… I think that they are a little over 60 pounds with the bikes in them. I’ll update this post once I weigh them again. If you want to ship them by air, I’d recommend first checking with the airlines. Some airlines ship skis, golf clubs and other oversized stuff. So you might be able to ship this as well. Just call ahead to be sure.BTW, if they do let it on the plane, just know that it’s going in the belly of the plane. These cases are very big and heavy. There’s not a snowball’s chance that they will fit in an overhead. So other than that, I can strongly recommend these boxes. Are they cheap? Noooo! But neither are the bikes that are shipped in them. So that makes these boxes a gray deal for shipping Bromptons.

Quality case
I use Pelican 1690 cases to ship equipment across the US on a weekly basis. These cases stand up to the abuse very well. I've had a few latches get damaged but they are available and are easy to replace. I've tried other brand cases and the Pelicans hold up better.

You can not beat a Pelican Case!
Well yes you can beat a Pelican case and it will live through it. I have been using Pelican products for over 14 years and they have traveled around the world with me. I bought the 1690 because I was going to India and the in country airlines have a 40 lbs. max weight for your suitcase and this case was perfect for that. It lived through rain and baggage handlers in three different country's and it still looked brand new. If you travel Pelican cases are the only way to go. I tell all of the new traveling reps that Pelican cases are the way to go and their wife will say that bag is to heavy and ugly so they will buy a soft sided case and it will last maybe 6 to 7 months and then it will be destroyed. Go Pelican!

Great way to store and transport gear
Pelican cases are widely used by professionals for storing and moving all kinds of gear. Owning several myself I completely understand why.A very sturdy outer shell protects the gear. Pluckable foam on the inside allows for customized configuration that can accomodate pretty much any type of equipment.A lot of gear comes with its vendor specific cases and bags. But if you have gear from multiple vendors, it can be a hazzle to find solutions which minimize the total number of cases, yet make sure that the equipment isn't just loose or force-fitted.Pelican cases come in many different sizes. So finding the right size and combination to fit all the gear can be tricky and does require some planning. It's best to pre-arrange the gear in the the expected configuration and measure required depth in particular.

I love these cases!
We purchase pelican cases for work, and put our very expensive testing equipment in them. We have yet to have a case fail on us! I recommend getting the cases WITH the foam.I'm a real person and did NOT receive this item at a discount in lieu of a positive review. By clicking "helpful" at the bottom of this review, it will help move "real" reviews to the top. Thanks in advance.

It's sturdy and holds three 24" tvs that I ship for trade shows. It's a little difficult to line up the latches, otherwise I would have give a 5-star.

I would highly recommend getting a properly fitting microfibre sleeve
Used this to ship my computer overseas via airline. It kept it safe and there were no problems at all. Although, if you have a sensitive screen, I would highly recommend getting a properly fitting microfibre sleeve. We used an open cloth & it slipped during shipment. The foam ended up leaving an odd film on the screen. Nothing that couldn't be remedied, but it would have been better not to have occurred at all. Pelican has always made amazing products, and this is not an exception.
