The media could not be loaded. So this has been very useful in live streaming and events and set. Ethernet is cheaper to get a farther run then hdmi without loosing quality. I tried it on my drone and was very happy to see that i can be as far as needed to keep line-of-sight and still send without using a wireless transmitter and run the ethernet to the director in the church. 150ft ethernet was 50 dollars so not too much. It also worked on a samsung bluray player, so this was able to bypass the hardware to prevent piracy. It is also great fro when capture powerpoints for live events. many times you put a capture box and have no idea if its actaully working. This way i can actually switch the presenter and presentation and pip with OBS and record through it. very nice. Something to be aware of... with rtsp, i was getting like a 2second delay. Also, when starting fresh for the day with it, there seems to be some thinking going on for about 1minute or booting up, after that though i can switch it from device to device and it will keep transferring i just need to reselect it in the streaming software OBS and it shows up again. Ive been using this as a video capture source, but it also works as a encoder to stream directly. you could use this with the atem mini, and plug this in and now you can live stream your switched feed from the monitor out (recommend using the monitor with loop through though). All in all this is a very versatile device and very comforting to have.

I purchased this to plug into the back of a DTV converter box that I purchased from Walmart that has and HDMI output. I am a broadcaster and wanted to be able to see a OTA (over the air) signal from one of my transmitters remotely. I have a GeoVision Security DVR system that can record rtsp streams from third party cameras. This unit initially was not recognised correctly and would say connected, but would not pull the stream. I talked to DDMall and GeoVision and only DDMall responded. They not only took my issue seriously but worked to solve the problem by making modifications to the firmware to make it work. My GeoVision DVR is now recording the rtsp stream in H.265 from this encoder. It can get power from the USB port of the Converter box, but also seems to run fine powered by the HDMI port. This means this little tiny encoder can be plugged into an HDMI port on a device 2 hours away from me and give me a stream over a network connection. Way cool!!!This unit is built well and is very easy to set up. I am not using for the RTMP mode that will allow streaming to online services. Did test with VLC as well and that works great too!Other benefits, this included an HDMI extension cable in case the port is too close to other things to plug in directly, as well as an USB-C to HDMI adaptor for use on a newer PC or laptop with USB-C. Very good device, Must buy!

Well designed encoder, hits all the right points from the engineering prospective. As of June 2020 this is probably the best H264/H265 encoder on the market in its category (no 4k).Pros:+ runs on ubiquitous 5V (older devices from competitors still require 12V)+ low power usage: encoder gets warm during continuous use but not hot (device appears to dissipate heat via the metal HDMI connector if plugged it into a larger metal device)+ simple web interface with just enough functionality for most home users+ compact and lightweight, can be plugged directly into another device if clearance allows, no mounting need+ comes with three accessory cables (no power supply, which I personally did not want anyway)+ build in down scaling works well and allows to reduce both image and stream size+ immediate effect when changing video or audio settings, no restart neededCons:- there is a 1-2 sec lag between input and output, which is expected; make using a remote on a connected device more difficult but is an acceptable trade off- comes set with a static IP (I would prefer default DHCP, connecting direct with specific subnet is a hassle)
