Corelle Livingware Vitrelle 12-1/4-Inch Serving Platter, Winter Frost White

My husband and I are in the kitchen all the time. At least once a month, one of us will drop a plate in the sink or on the floor. So, we need pieces that will work for us (they have to be durable and functional) and they have to be able to grow with us (that means the pattern cannot be retired in 6 months). When we were at the point of selecting platters in preparation for spring and summer, we didn't have to do an exhaustive search because corelle was the only option.Nearly all of corelle's pieces are products I would buy for others. (The company makes some mugs I wouldn't recommend.) This platter is no exception; it is well-made and a good size. In addition to this platter being a well-made product, buying this piece, in this color, has two other advantages:1) The first advantage is that corelle has a lot of other pieces that come in this color. I bought a 34 piece corelle set a couple of years ago. As noted, I had reached the point in my life when it was time to expand the set so I purchased several pieces to expand and this platter was one of them. It matches my dinnerware set perfectly. You can also get serving bowls that match just as well and are just as durable. This is the perfect set for a family that is rough with plates and/or is potentially expanding. You will be able to find a matching piece and those pieces will endure through the years.2) The second advantage is the white color. You can make any piece look as dressy or casual as you want by pairing fancier or more casual tablecloths and placements with the dishes. Many people seem apprehensive to purchase white dinnerware for fear of staining. You don't need to worry about that with corelle. I frequently use corelle dishes to reheat pasta with marinara sauce and foods that incorporate dark sauces like soy or teriyaki. My dishes are still perfectly white.I really love corelle's products. You can expand this set to fit the needs of your family and the white color is perfect for casual dinners, larger family affairs or fancy parties. You have to be very, very brutal to your plates to get one to chip. After being served a lobster dinner in a pricey restaurant on an oval plate similar to this, I was determined to find something comparable to use at home. I have owned these platters for about a year now and use them often as a dinner plate - they are perfect for meals that need a bit more space like steak, lobster or hearty holiday meals. While they are a bit pricey as a dinner plate, the extra size makes a huge difference in convenience. Yes, they make great serving platters but don't overlook using them in other ways. As with all other Corelle dinnerware that I have owned over the years, these are nearly indestructible, take up little space and clean up easily. I love the unique, oval shape, which pairs nicely with the smaller 9" oval platter that I use for salads or as a luncheon plate. While the price on Amazon can fluctuate a few dollars, these plates/platters can be difficult to find in stores so get them here if they are what you are looking for.

I blame myself for not paying more attention to the size before buying this. So the platter is small but adequate when serving pasta or veggies or even a medium roast for as many people as five or six.But it would be hit or miss for entertaining guests. It would really depend on the number of guests and also on whether it was a potluck or fancy dinner .I'd expected to use this at Thanksgiving so I'm trying to figure out how to make it work for a larger gathering. Definitely NOT large enough for the turkey we bake but I think it could work for our ham.Again, I do NOT blame Corelle for my error. I'm also not returning the platter because this it is an appealing if a basic white. No surprises there as the Amazon photo is accurate. I think this platter would help showcase a variety of foods nicely. Also, this would work in both contemporary and traditional dining rooms. So far, it has been durable and useful and very versatile. My only issue is the size but I can't lower my rating based on that...on my mistake when reading the description.

Ok perhaps I am biased but I love Corelle. However I have kids so glass kitchenware is a scary experience. For me however Corelle combines the best of both worlds. I can have Corelle and STILL feel safe with my kids using them, washing them. Reality is my kids drop them on a regular basis (normally trying to get out of washing them!)I also have a small amount of cabinet space the and fact they are so light and take up so little room is amazing. I can fit all my plates, cups, services dishes in a fraction of the place that normal dishes will go.So my kids other favorite habit is loading the dishwasher without rinsing the dishes completely. An annoying difficult habit to break. But with my Corelle I have no worries. Simplistic to clean is an understatement. Virtually nothing stains them and the worst stuck on food comes off in the dishwasher.Really I feel proud to have people over for dishes despite having 5 kids and when guests are come over they tell me how brave I am to have such paper thin light plates with my kids. I can safely just smile and explain how my Corelle works!

Amazonians, these are Corelles, what more can I say. Very durable, plain, but in a good way. The price was on point. I did order the Cherish print, had to return due to the double in price, however, those plates were not plain, but very pretty looking.

These are so nice, great for cookouts and a plate that you need to hold a lot. Yet still the thin wonderful Corelli dish. Washes well, I got the white because I wanted lead free and made in USA helps too. Great product, I highly recommend them.
